Literature Text

Immortals can not be bound in love
to those of a lesser substance, you see,
for waste away will they- the fey-
until they cease to be.

An immortal loves with a fire bright
illuminating as the very day.
The act must be mirrored by their love
or they will surely waste away.

For the flame that burns within the heart
must be exchanged, not taken.
It will surely drain an immortal heart dry
before the mortal will awaken.

Unfaltering, boundless, eternal love
many mortals claim to posess
but when they capture an immortal heart,
the only result is distress.

On the edge of death sit I, pale as the dove.
I pay the price for my mistake- I gave a mortal love.
"Perhaps I was not made for love.
Perhaps love wasn't made for me.
It seems my heart cannot be bound
now that it's been set free..."
